Khwaja Mir Dard was a celebrated 18th-century Urdu and Persian poet, Sufi saint, and scholar who is considered one of the three pillars of classical Urdu poetry along with Mir Taqi Mir and Mirza Sauda. Born in Delhi, Dard was the spiritual leader of the Naqshbandi Sufi order and his poetry is deeply infused with mystical and spiritual themes. His ghazals explore the pain of separation from the Divine, the quest for spiritual truth, and the inner journey of the soul with remarkable depth and sincerity. The pen name "Dard" (pain) itself reflects the central theme of his poetry – the pain of divine love and spiritual longing.
