Syed Ahmad Shah, known by his pen name Ahmad Faraz, was one of the most celebrated Urdu poets of Pakistan, renowned for his romantic ghazals and progressive political poetry. Born in Kohat, Pakistan, Faraz's poetry captured the hearts of millions across the subcontinent with its passionate expression of love and bold critique of political oppression. His ghazals dealt with themes of love, separation, and longing with remarkable intensity and beauty. Faraz was also known for his courageous political poetry that challenged dictatorships and spoke for democracy and human rights. He spent years in self-imposed exile due to his opposition to military rule. His famous collections include "Tanha Tanha," "Dard-e-Ashna," and "Sab Awazein Meri Hain."
